Antelope Canyon: The Most Famous and Beautiful Slot Canyon in the United States

Discover a lesser-known section of Antelope Canyon with Antelope Canyon X tours, providing a less crowded and touristy experience compared to the main canyon.

Unfortunately, the only way to visit Antelope X is by taking a tour with a local Navajo guide, as it is located on the Navajo Nation, just like the main canyons.

Our experience booking the Antelope Canyon X tour through GetYourGuide was fantastic. The package included entry tickets and a local Navajo guide. They provided clear communication via email and offer a refund policy for cancellations made in advance.

Consider a day trip to Antelope Canyon X and Horseshoe Bend from Las Vegas, which includes transportation to and from the city. Review of Antelope Canyon X: What You Can Anticipate During the Tour

The Antelope Canyon X excursion explores two distinct and beautiful sections of slot canyons, with a short, sandy wash between them.

We quickly checked in at the company’s parking lot, then climbed into an air-conditioned van and drove through the desert for 10 or 15 minutes to reach the beginning of the canyon. The road was a bit rough, but not too bad.

Follow your guide to reach the mouth of the slot canyon, then walk down a flight of wooden stairs for 5 or 10 minutes. You will be in the sun at first, but there are shaded areas to rest.

Immediately, we noticed the absence of large crowds. The tours here give off a sense of privacy. Our group consisted of no more than 10 people, and we only encountered one or two other small groups throughout our entire tour.

Antelope Canyon X offers a more peaceful experience compared to the popular Upper and Lower Canyons, making it easier to capture photos without crowds.

Our Antelope Canyon X tour was nearly empty, leaving us with a sense of solitude.

In my opinion, the views at Antelope Canyon X are just as impressive as those at the Upper and Lower Canyons, and my wife agrees.

Antelope X boasts enchanting winding passages and stunning hues of pink and orange sandstone, reminiscent of the Lower Antelope Canyon.

We spent over an hour exploring the slot canyon, leisurely taking pictures and conversing with the Navajo guide about the canyon’s history.

We had an amazing time and felt that we received excellent value for our money in comparison to other Antelope Canyon tours (Upper and Lower). Throughout our road trips across the U.S., we’ve visited some of the most stunning slot canyons in Arizona, Nevada, and Utah, but I believe this one ranks among the best.

In my opinion, the Antelope Canyon X tour offers a fantastic experience for those seeking a stunning slot canyon without the usual crowds, expense, and inconvenience of the more popular canyons. Be sure to visit before it becomes too well-known!

“Is the tour worth the investment?”

Absolutely, the Canyon X tour is a great value! You can find tours for as little as $60 USD per person, making it a steal in my opinion.

During the summer season, the cost for the Upper Antelope Canyon tour can reach up to $150 USD per person, and it is usually more hectic and packed with people.

Although tour companies do not recommend it, my wife went during her second trimester and did fine, and I know other pregnant women who went later in their pregnancies without any issues. I’m not a doctor, but I think the main concerns for pregnant women would be the heat, bumpy roads, and the short uphill hike out of the canyon. In our experience, these were not significant issues, but you should make your own decision based on your personal health, fitness, and your doctor’s advice.

However, if you are traveling from Las Vegas, GetYourGuide offers a full day trip to Antelope Canyon X and Horseshoe Bend that includes lunch and transportation to and from Las Vegas, Nevada. This option is more expensive, but it could be a good choice for those visiting Vegas without their own transportation and still want to visit Antelope Canyon.
